Catholic Pilgrimage - sanctuaries of southern Poland 5 days/4 nights

Day 1  ARRIVAL - KRAKOW

Arrive in Krakow. Check in the hotel. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 2  KRAKOW CITY TOUR - LAGIEWNIKI

Morning: Krakow city tour Old Town during up to 4 hours – walking tour  

Old Town (UNESCO) with it’s most important and spectacular monuments: the largest Market Square area in Europe with St. Mary’s Church, Cloth Hall,Sukiennice,Wawel Hill with the magnificent Royal Castle and the Royal Cathedral with the relics of St. Stanislaw, where Pope John Paul II gave his first Mass, and later became the Archbishop;

Afternoon: Łagiewniki - visit to the Congregation of Sisters of the Divine Mother of Mercy in Lagiewniki, to visit the tomb of Sister Faustina. She worked and died here.

Evening: time at leisure

Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay

Day 3  KALWARIA ZEBRZYDOWSKA - WADOWICE

Morning: Excursion (during up to 5-6 hours) to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska visit a 17th-century Bernadin Monastery, with the famous Way of the Cross with 42 little chapels. Poland's second most popular pilgrimage centre. In 1999 the World Heritage Committee, UNESCO, unanimously inscribed the breathtaking Mannerist Architectural and Park Landscape Complex as well as Pilgrimage Park into the World Heritage List. The priests who come to the shrine of pilgrimage groups may celebrate Mass on the hour throughout the day from the hour. 6.00 to 19.00. Next we will continue to Wadowice - the birthplace of the Pope John Paul II, visit the Pope’s house, which is now a museum. Return to Krakow.

Evening: time at leisure

Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay.

 

Optional: In the Morning visit to museum Auschwitz-Birkeanu, lunch and in the afternoon visit Kalwaria and Wadowice (during all day 8-9h).



Day  4  CZESTOCHOWA

Morning: Depart to Czestochowa to visit Jasna Gora Monastery. Jasna Gora Monastery which, along with Fatima in Portugal and Lourdes in France, is one of the most vivid and important pilgrimage sites of the entire Christian world. You will see not only the famous Black Madonna but also the monastery premises. The tour will be led by a resident Pauline monk. (tour during up to 8 hours)

Day  5  WIELICZKA - DEPARTURE

Morning: Check out of the hotel. Departure to Wieliczka. (Tour during 3 hours).

Salt Mine Wieliczka, which was entered in 1978 on UNESCO World Heritage List. The only salt mine in the world preserved in this condition, 135 meters underground, visited by more than 1 million tourists a year. You begin your route with level I-64m below the ground, walk through, underground lakes, various interesting geological forms, galleries, chambers and chapels down to level III, 135m below the ground. St. Kinga’s Chapel is a breathtaking subterranean church where everything is made of salt. inside temperature is +14'C  (55'F). After the visit depart to home.
